Switching Dental Waterline Treatment: A Practice Worksheet

Switching products changes more than the box on the shelf. Plan the equipment check, transition instructions, refill routine, and monitoring before starting.

Before the change

  1. 01Inventory unit models, connected accessories, source water, and current treatment.
  2. 02Confirm that the new product and dose are permitted for each system.
  3. 03Obtain transition and initial preparation instructions; do not mix old and new chemistries.
  4. 04Document the monitoring plan, responsible staff, and the person handling unacceptable results.

Train the refill and closing routine

Use the exact tablet size and prescribed volume. Replace outdated refill notes and store old supplies so staff cannot accidentally substitute them. Explain any change in closing, inactivity, or shock directions.

An initial shock or other preparation can establish the starting condition directed by the new protocol. It does not guarantee a particular test result or remove the need to respond to later failures.

Evaluating a LineTab trial

LineTab's published setup guide uses one tablet in 0.75 L of tap water at each refill after initial preparation. Confirm equipment suitability before trying it. Record the starting setup and keep all subsequent monitoring results, including exceptions.

A useful evaluation asks whether staff consistently follow the routine and whether documented water-quality results meet the target. Testimonials and one passing test do not predict every unit's outcome.
